Drone attacks shut all four Moscow airports for second time in two days

Rosaviatsiya restricted all four airports at about 14:05 Moscow time, citing flight safety. Sheremetyevo declared an air-raid alert and moved passengers, including some from parked aircraft, into shelters. Vnukovo and Domodedovo resumed flights under a clearance regime by 16:43, while restrictions at Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky were still in place at that time, AeroTime reported, citing agency notices.

It was the second full closure in two days, after an overnight shutdown on Oct. 22. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defenses destroyed drones flying toward the city; those claims could not be independently verified.

Why it matters: Repeated closures cause delays, cancellations and diversions for travelers, including on foreign carriers that still fly to Moscow, such as Emirates.
