Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola has minor injuries in car crash

The family was headed to the Alaska Federation of Natives annual banquet, AP and the Guardian reported. Anchorage police said they responded to a multi-vehicle collision at about 6:55 p.m. and that the circumstances are under investigation.

Campaign manager Cheryl Bruce said Peltola was "in good spirits" and that, on medical advice, events in Fairbanks and Bethel would be rescheduled. AP said she plans to resume campaigning Tuesday in Homer.

Why it matters: The crash briefly pauses campaigning in one of the most closely watched Senate races in the final week before Election Day.
